Fun Party and Gift Ideas for Kids

There are multiple reasons you may be planning a party for a child. Birthdays, preschool and elementary school graduations, Halloween, and other special occasions, such as Christmas, may inspire you to host a party.

There are also plenty of reasons you may be shopping for a gift for a child, including birthdays, Christmas, graduations, and personal achievements. Coming up with gifts and party ideas can be challenging, especially if you host a few events each year. Read on to explore some gift and party ideas for your child’s next special event.

Children’s interests change as they age, which means a toy they loved as a toddler might be forgotten when they start kindergarten. Simplify the shopping process by considering your child’s age and interests.

Toddlers need larger toys that aren’t a choking hazard. Learning robots, play kitchens, and play construction sets are great options for children this age, and most kids will use the large playsets for several years. You could also opt for large building blocks, enabling your child to make their playhouse.

You can also shop by brand. Mattel has a variety of popular children’s toys for kids of all ages. There are a lot of Fisher-Price toys ideal for a toddler or preschooler, while school-age children’s interests may shift to Barbie, Polly Pocket, American Girl, and Hot Wheels. Kids that enjoy group games may appreciate a deck of UNO cards.

Many kids enjoy playing video games, and you can start youngsters off with an educational tablet. Consider a handheld gaming device for older kids, or invest in a gaming console you can connect to your TV.

Although toys are popular gift options, you can give your child a particular activity instead of a physical gift. Perhaps they’ve always wanted to go to the zoo or a science center. Whether you plan a trip to the ocean or Disneyland, activity gifts are a great way to give your child memories that will last a lifetime.

Parties

Consider your child’s age when you’re planning a party. You won’t need formal activities for children if your child’s turning 1, but toddlers need informal activities to keep them occupied.

Introduce more structured activities for older children, such as crafts, sports activities, and games. You don’t have to use all the games you’ve prepared, but it’s a great idea to have some backup plans in case children start to get bored. Older children may also want to choose a theme or activity for their party.

You can transform your backyard without buying all your supplies. Suppose your child wants to host a princess party. Google “royal throne chair rental near me” to find the perfect throne to rent for your child’s party. You can supplement your throne rental by booking a princess character who’ll attend the party and lead the children in games and activities. For a final touch, add a castle bounce house to your rental.

Performers are an excellent option for children of various ages, and adults may also enjoy a magic show or a clown’s performance. When you hire entertainers, you won’t have to worry about leading games yourself, enabling you to take photos and restock your snack table.

Booking an event party at a specific location is a smart move if you have limited space at home or want to control the start and end times. Popular options include entertainment centers where kids can go mini-golfing or go-karting. You could also plan a bowling or laser tag party. It’s also an option to rent a pavilion at a park and use that as your party site. A pavilion close to a playground is ideal.

You may be shopping for a child’s gift or planning a child’s party to observe a milestone or special event. When planning gifts and parties, keep the child’s age and interests in mind.
