Finding the perfect souvenirs for kids

If you’re about to go away on holiday, you might be wondering what you should bring back for the kids in your life. Whether you’re puzzling over young girls gift ideas or are struggling to decide what your nephew would love, then this blog can push you in the right direction. While not all kids are the same, there are some types of souvenirs that are almost guaranteed to put a smile on their faces. So don’t leave everything until the last minute and consider these ideas today.

Sweets and chocolates

All kids love sweet treats, so you can’t really go wrong with bringing them back something good to eat. While the adults might enjoy savoury crackers and exotic liquors, kids will be more than happy to make their way through a bag of fudge or a supersized chocolate bar. If you’re bringing treats back for lots of kids, choose a selection and let them have a mini picnic at home.

Figurines

Both girls and boys get excited when they receive collectable figurines, whether these are snow globes, wooden dolls or small landmarks. It’s likely that their room is already full of memorabilia, so they’ll be delighted to add a special little model to their collection. Perfect for displaying on a shelf or bookcase, these souvenirs are more tactile than posters and pictures, allowing kids to feel like they’re part of the action.

Clothing

Depending on the country you go to, you’ll be able to bring back different types of clothing for the kids. If you’re gone somewhere sunny, buy a sunhat, sunglasses or some flip-flops with the name of the location you visited on them. For colder countries, choose a woolly hat, scarf or jumper. They don’t even need to be purchased from a tourist shop. For example, if you’re planning a trip to Peru, any child would love to have something made from alpaca wool to treasure for years to come.

Postcard

While this isn’t exactly a souvenir, sending kids a postcard in the mail while you’re still on holiday will make them feel really special. You don’t have to write a lot or overthink the picture, simply sending them a little something will let them know you’re thinking about them. What’s more, kids are amazed when something arrives through the letterbox just for them. While adults are used to receiving bills, kids don’t often get letters and packages, which will make a postcard even more important to them.

Books

Whether it’s a kid-friendly tourist guide or a local story, nearly every child enjoys having a book read to them before bedtime. You could even pick up an activity book for more adventurous kids, allowing them to colour in different pictures of the place you went to or solve puzzles. Either way, a book is something that will be treasured for a long time, just make sure that it’s suitable for the child’s age so they can really make the most of it.
