3 Ways You Can Put Your Own Unique Stamp On Your Home

If you are someone who has a very distinct personal style or has a passion for interior design and decor, you likely won’t have any problem creating a home or garden that reflects you as a person or family. But if this isn’t something that you’re particularly gifted at, finding ways to make your home special may be much more difficult.

If this is something that you’re currently struggling with, here are three ways you can put your own unique stamp on your home.

Focus On What Makes Your Or Your Family Unique

Before you start going to design and decor stores looking for things that you can display in your home, you should first sit down and think about what really makes you or your family unique. Even if it’s something that you think is small or insignificant, you can use this as a jumping off point for a theme for some design elements that will make your home uniquely yours.

Depending on what you determine is unique or interesting in your life, you’ll then work to incorporate those things into the design or decoration for your house. If you love boating or being on the water, Deborah Baldwin, a contributor to This Old House, suggests swapping out your normal stair rails for some oars. Or if it’s being outside that you and your family truly enjoy, may you work with a creative landscaping team to transform your outdoor space rather than focusing on the interior.

Swap For Unique Hardware

For those who are wanting to add something unique to their home without having to choose an entire theme to work with, there are plenty of smaller ways you can make your home look like a space that showcases your personality and interests.

One way to do this, according to Frameology and Medium.com, is to replace some of the traditional hardware on your cupboards, cabinets, or other furniture pieces. You can find unique and creative handles and pulls that will not only make your home look updated and fresh, but will also make you feel like the space was meant for you.

Add The Personal Touches

Another way that you can put your own stamp on your home is to move away from design elements that could be found in any interior decor magazine. Rather, you should find ways to include more personal touches in your styling.

To do this, Amy Huntley of The Idea Room, recommends that you think about people, places, or experiences that you absolutely love and then use items that hearken back to those things within your space. This could include things like family photos, mementos from previous adventures, and much more.

If you’re wanting to make your home feel like it’s a space created just for you and your family, consider using the tips mentioned above to help you create this type of home.
