How to Bring Personality to Your Home

Our home is one of the places that we have true control over. We can decide how it looks, its’ layout, and the general vibe. Having a house that you feel comfortable in and that reflects your personality can help you in other aspects of your life. Therefore, it important to let your house shine, and by extension, yourself. Here are some tips to help make your house your own.

Add Artwork You Love

One thing that can truly reflect your personality in a striking, visual manner is incorporating artwork into your décor. This doesn’t mean that you have to go to a local gallery and spend thousands on paintings (although if you have the means to do this, then feel free). Instead, it means selecting paintings, prints, or posters that you feel a connection to.

If you enjoy painting, consider framing some of your work to personalize your space. If not, then search for things that evoke an emotional response. This could be something that reminds you of a fond memory or even something you just like the look of. Decorating the walls of your house with pictures or paintings that make you happy is a brilliant way of allowing your personality to shine through your home.

Consider How You Light Your Home

Lighting can have a dramatic effect on the overall feel of a home. Clever lighting can create the illusion of space, making things seem more airy and free. In contrast, softer lights can make rooms feel cozier, homely, and warm.

Think of what you want from your space and the atmosphere you wish to create when considering how your home is lit. To do this, think about more than just the room but the lighting options available. For example, consider replacing your old E14 halogen with an LED. Doing this will give you greater control of the spectrum and intensity of light in your home, so it can better match the atmosphere you wish to create.

Dial In the Feng Shui

When purchasing furniture for your home, you should think about more than purely the color, style, and comfort. Ensuring that your furniture fits your home correctly and is arranged to make rooms feel more accomodating is also a crucial factor.

Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese practice of balancing energies in your home. Creating a balanced home allows it to flow beautifully and can help your abode feel more like an extension of yourself. A balanced home can be more comfortable to be in, as the energy will feel more natural. Feng Shui can have a knock-on effect on your wellbeing, as it can make every moment you spend at home more pleasurable.

Make it Yours

Overall, the best way to give your house personality is to let your character be seen in every aspect of its design. To make your house as comfortable and welcoming as possible, it should reflect you, making spending time indoors more inviting for yourself and your guests.
